Fireside Chat with Ms Rajdeep Kaur (PCS) : Women in Bureaucracy
"Women do demand equally challenging roles. It is our political and bureaucratic setup that treks on the same route and avoids the less travelled roads." says Ms Rajdeep Kaur (PCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner General for District Ferozepur in the State of Punjab in a Fireside Chat with The Reformist.
Ms Rajdeep Kaur highlighted that gender doesn't matter in bureaucracy as the rules of the game are same for everyone. At the same time she shed some light on the systemic factors that affect the elevation of women in top bureaucratic positions. "Very few governments and politicians have taken initiatives and bold decisions of appointing women at top positions in bureaucracy. Rest all are walking the same old path. But the winds of change are blowing and this will change in coming years"
Ms Rajdeep believes that bureaucracy is the best opportunity for women to come forward and break the convention politically and administratively.
